Cinema "Jusuf Gërvalla"
Cinema “Jusuf Gërvalla”
Jusuf Gërvalla cinema was built in 1955 with the funds of the Union of Workers. At that time, the cinema was called ‘Kino Rad’ (‘Workers’ Cinema’). Its purpose was to provide a cultural space in the city of Peja. During the period 1955-1998, it served as a center of joint cultural
activities for the residents of Peja. The cinema was closed when the war started in 1998 and was badly damaged in the years that followed. In 2000, the building was renovated and partially rebuilt. In 2001, the cinema was opened again and the name was changed to ‘Jusuf Gërvalla Cinema’ in 2002. In 2016, by a decision of the municipality, the cinema with all its assets was given to the non-governmental organization Anibar, which has organized the Festival Anibar International Animation in cinemas since 2010.
